As I mentioned last week, I got in a new batch of artwork, and I’d asked my illustrator to do a few to help celebrate the upcoming premiere of the final season of Game of Thrones.
I’m really excited about this last season, mostly because I’ve been a Thrones fan since around 1998, when a friend recommended them to me and my husband, long before HBO ever picked it up. Last season was particularly exciting because it took us past the books, and when you consider that I’ve been reading them for that long, it was a twenty-year wait to find out what happened to all my favorite characters.
So, needless to say, it’s been a long wait. I’ll definitely still read the books—if they ever come. I suspect that once the show’s ending is out there, however much it deviates from the “real” ending in George R.R. Martin’s head, it being completed in at least some form will kill whatever motivation he’s got left to do it. I don’t want it to be this way, of course, but it’s what I’ve come to accept.
I have had this line of Edie’s on my to-do list for forever, and I’m so glad I finally get to use it! For those not quite familiar with Game of Thrones, Melisandre is known in the books and show as the Red Priestess, and her signature line is “The night is dark and full of terrors.”
The new season arrives in just over three weeks, which means I need to go hunt down some new ramekins so that I can bake lemon cakes. (my kids have since lost/stolen/broken my previous set)
How about you? Are you excited? What will Edie do next in the Game of Edits?
Have a great rest of your week and month!
