Before Christmas, my brother came by to drop off Christmas presents and give me a DVD of my grandparents’ golden anniversary party, which was 15 years ago. I was so skinny (see right) that we were all just bust laughing at how I had a waist and I actually remember considering myself a little chubby back then. I had just graduated high school and was probably around 115 lbs. He told me we should do a weight challenge for the new year.
My general plan is to exercise 2-3 times a week, eat smaller meals, eat more fruit, and only take a couple bites of dessert instead of a full serving. This may be a fluke, but in following that general plan, I ended up losing almost 3 lbs the first week of the year.
My 1/1/12 weight was 160.4 and this morning I was 157.6. Not a bad start at all! My goal is 135, so I’ve still got quite a ways to go. We’ll see next week how being smarter and doing a bit of exercise does or whether I was just having a really great week or something.
Exercise for the week included:
- 1 8 minute Zumba & 1 8 minute Tae Bo
- 2 Tae Bo Basic Workouts
- 3 days of biking to work
I find that I despise the cheesy quality of the video and I despise the women in the video even more. They’re all so cut and thin and look so eager to please Billy Blanks. I’m tempted to buy one of his Cardio DVDs simply because they were made in the 2000s instead of 1999 and so that I don’t have to look at them anymore.
